The Georgetown Recreation Center indoor pool will remain closed as it undergoes further repairs.
“Following the successful completion of the natatorium HVAC replacement, stachybotrys (black mold) growth was discovered,” Georgetown Parks and Recreation wrote. “An Environmental Hygienist was consulted and has prepared a remediation plan to include the removal of all sheetrock, followed by reconstruction with a non-sheetrock wall covering. The indoor pool will continue to remain closed during demolition, remediation, and reconstruction of the affected area.”
Georgetown Parks and Recreation said the exact reopening date of the pool is unknown, but the indoor pool will likely not be open before the end of June.
“We will continue to offer the Village Pool, 370 Village Commons Blvd., as an alternative for open swim,” they wrote. “Swim lessons that were scheduled for the indoor pool June 7-30 will be canceled. We will update [the website], and send out communication when a reopening date is determined. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
