The Georgetown Sertoma Club recently donated a Portable InfoLoop system to the Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collectorβs Georgetown office, 904 S. Main Street. The Portable InfoLoop system assists people who are hard of hearing and is compatible with all telecoil equipped hearing aids, cochlear implants and induction loop receivers.
The Portable InfoLoop System was presented to the Georgetown Tax Office by Jim Wilson and Karen Block, Speech & Hearing co-chairs for the Georgetown Sertoma Club. The Tax Office employees learned how to use the system during their April training day.
βOur Georgetown Sertoma club is participating in the National Service Project to donate Portable InfoLoop(s) during Mayβs Better Speech and Hearing Month. A Portable InfoLoop system amplifies the sound in a certain area for people who use hearing aids,β said Jim Wilson.
βOur hope is to bring awareness and aid to the hard of hearing in our community. We are pleased that the Williamson County Tax Office is providing this service to their customers,β added Karen Block.
βWeβll see almost 60,000 customers in our Georgetown office this year, many of them with hearing issues compounded by masks and barriers. I am grateful the Sertoma Club of Georgetown considered our office as a donation recipient of their portable hearing loop. This is an invaluable tool to help us better serve our customers,β said
