On Friday, April 22, 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen & Bar celebrated the youngest members of the community with free kids meals all day, a coloring contest and giving a $11,000 check to the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center.
The $11,000 check comprises one dollar from every kid’s meal sold during the past year, as well as 10% of ticket sales from the recent Crawfish Boil event at Hard Count Kitchen & Cocktails, 2020 Market’s sister restaurant, also located at The Summit at Rivery Park.
“We’ve always wanted to be a part of some charity group and we were trying to stay local,” Manuel Martinez, owner of 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen & Bar, told Hello Georgetown. “Upon creating our kids menu, we came up with the idea of…kids giving back to kids, or kids helping kids.”
The check comes at a important time for the advocacy center, as the organization is working to raise funds for expansion efforts.
“We are in the middle of a capital campaign to help us renovate and expand our building because unfortunately, the need is there to expand our services,” Kerrie Stannell, Chief Executive Officer for the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, told Hello Georgetown. “We are beyond grateful to Hard Count and 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen. They have been so generous with us and the fact that they’re going to continue to support into this year has just really been phenomenal.”
Martinez said the clock has already started again on raising money for next year’s donation, and participating is as easy as bringing your kids in and ordering a kids meal.
“[Georgetown] has been very supportive,” Martinez said. “We’re fortunate now to be able to give back to the community and it’s just a great feeling.”
