The Georgetown Independent School District named the following campus leaders for James Mitchell Elementary School and Annie Purl Elementary School during a special board meeting on Tuesday, June 29:
- Hollee Braun, principal, Mitchell Elementary School
- Mindy Choate, principal, Purl Elementary School
Hollee Braun
For the past year, Hollee Braun has served as assistant principal at Mitchell Elementary where she was responsible for helping to lead professional learning, facilitating professional learning communities, planning and implementing of the campus safety plan and coordinating efforts around campus assessments.
Previously, Braun served as an instructional coach in Liberty Hill ISD, as the principal of a local private elementary school, and as a summer school principal and science teacher in Georgetown ISD. Her experiences in education span 20 years and include roles at both the elementary and secondary levels. She has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Texas State University and a Bachelor of Science in biology from The University of Texas — Austin.
Mindy Choate
Mindy Choate comes to the district from Eanes ISD where she has served as Director of Humanities In this role, she was responsible for the development and support of K-12 English Language Arts, Social Studies, and World Languages curriculum and assessments, professional learning, and supporting the use of data to monitor student academic progress. Choate’s experience in education spans more than 20 years in a variety of roles at public school districts throughout Texas as a teacher and administrator, including serving as a campus principal for diverse student and community populations.
Choate received her Master of Science in education from the University of Houston — Clear Lake and a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Houston Central.
In their new roles, Braun and Choate will lead their respective campuses in alignment with the district’s mission, vision, beliefs and Learner Profile framework. Both women will assume their new roles in July.
