Grace Academy held its first annual GraceFest Fundraiser on October 29 with an evening filled with family, food, fun, and fundraising.Β The fundraiser was in support of the Gather Capital Campaign to build a gymnasium and multipurpose hall on the schoolβs 35-acre campus.
Foregoing its usual annual gala, the school took a new approach to fundraising this year with GraceFest, its first cook-off competition complete with raffles, a silent auction, and carnival rides and games for the kids. Students, teachers, parents, and even local restaurant City Post put their culinary skills to the test to compete for the Best Fest Chef Award. Β From wagyu sausage bites, gumbo, chilis and brisket to queso mac and cheese, smash burgers, tacos, and decadent desserts, 30 groups of chefs fed over 550 attendees.
βThe generosity of Georgetown is overwhelming,β said GraceFest Co-Chair Amber Roberson. βWeβre so thankful to all who prepared food to feed our community. They all knocked it out of the park. The food was absolutely top-notch!β
Co-Chair Mandy Maxwell agreed. βI loved seeing our school family come together on our beautiful campus,β Maxwell said. βGreat food, great people, serving an even greater God!β
Grace Academy Director of Communications Tiffany McLendon said the evening was a huge success and wouldnβt have been possible without the support of the school community and sponsors.
βWhat an absolute joy it was to see our community gather in such a fun and profound way,β McLendon said. βWe are thankful for all of our sponsors, our community, and all the volunteers who worked so hard to create such a wonderful evening.β
Grace Academy is a K-12 classical christian school whose mission is to provide a distinctly Christ-centered, academically excellent, classical education as a foundation for life-long learning. Graceβs enrollment has rapidly increased over the last several years and a structure to house the entire school is vital to support its current 330 students and allow for future growth.
βThis place to gather will be more than a gym,β said Grace Academy Chairman of the Board Doug Noble. βIn addition to sporting events, it will house all school events such as assemblies, drama and music productions, indoor lunch when we have inclement weather, and provide a place for our entire school community to gather together.β
The Gather Capital Campaign is in full swing and the school is prayerful that it can meet its goal this school year so construction can begin.
βWe have completed phase one of our fundraising goals with donors committing $1.7 million and we are in the approval process with the City of Georgetown,β Noble said. βPhase two of fundraising to close the gap on our updated construction cost is now under way.β
The goal of phase two is to raise an additional $1 million and the school is looking to partner with donors who share in the vision for Grace Academy. For more information on Grace Academyβs building plans and capital campaign visit www.gracetx.org/gather.
