Razmataz Salon NAMED TO THE SALON TODAY 200 BY SALON TODAY MAGAZINE
BUFFALO GROVE, IL (June 2023) –Razmataz Salon in Georgetown, Texas owned by Rachel Stearns recently was named to the SALON TODAY 200 by SALON TODAY, the leading business media for salon and spa owners.
The magazine’s 26th annual SALON TODAY 200 issue profiles the selected salons in its Spring 2023 edition. The 200 salons in 11 different best practice categories, including Growth, Client Retention and Referral, Compensation and Benefits, Customer Service, Employee Education, Environmental Sustainability, Philanthropy, Retail and Merchandising, Salon Culture, Salon Leadership and Technology.
In essays, honorees wrote about their biggest challenges post-Covid and what business opportunities they were exploring. This year’s honorees listed staff recruitment and retention, how to tackle schedule flexibility and pricing, and how to prepare for economic insecurity as their three biggest challenges.
“This year’s competition studied how salons were recovering and rebuilding from the pandemic in 2021 and 2022,” said Stacey Soble, director of brand content strategy for SALON TODAY. “For these small business owners, it has been several years of pivoting and adapting to rapid changes and these honorees really proved their business acumen and leadership skills.”
For a salon to be named to the SALON TODAY 200, it had to meet the following criteria: 1) The salon or spa opened on or before January 1, 2020. 2) The salon is a provider of professional salon services including one, or more, of the following: hair care, nail care, skin care, body care or spa treatments; 3) The salon or spa generated annual service and product sales revenues of at least $250,000 per year since 2020; and 4) The owner provided statistical information about his or her business and completed two essay sections.
Razmataz Salon won their award for leadership, outstanding service to clients and a positive work environment for staff.
The honorees were celebrated at a special awards dinner in late April in Nashville, Tennessee, during SALON TODAY’s Data-Driven Salon Summit event. Representatives from more than 100 of the honorees were on hand to pick up their certificates, and six of the honorees were chosen for special awards:
- Bertrand Fontaine, president of Salon Centric, presented the Business Innovation award to Lindsey Young and Todd Bullock, owners of Luna Salon in Tallahassee, Florida.
- Shannon Fanshawe, vice president of sales for Kerastase and Shu Uemura, presented the award for Courage in Leadership to Jyl and Jason Craven, owners of Jyl Craven Hair Studio in Canton, Georgia.
- Barry Quinn, president of Phorest Salon Software presented the Creativity in Customer Experience award to Amber Baer, onwer of Something You Salon & Spa, in Champaign, Illinois.
- Karen Wilkin-Donachie, CEO of Collective Beauty Brands, presented the Modernization in Education award to Maggie DiFalco, owner of Maggie The Salon in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
- Denise Boudreaux, director of sales for SalonBiz, presented the Community Outreach award to Debbie and Charles Penzone of PENZONE Salons + Spas in Columbus, Ohio.
- Shauna McQuillen, vice president of commmerical for Aveda, presented the Strengthening Team Culture award to Shelly Malizola, owner of Allure Designs in Beauty.
