City of Georgetown launches askGTX for connecting to services
The City of Georgetown on Feb. 24 officially launches askGTX, a new service to help residents find answers, report an issue, or connect with City services. Similar to 311 services in other cities, the new askGTX contact center can be accessed through a website, phone call, and soon by using a smartphone app.
Residents can use askGTX for a variety of questions or issues, such as reporting a pothole, learning about water rebates, or finding a nearby park. Other common issues include traffic signal or traffic sign problems, abandoned vehicles, or park maintenance issues.
The askGTX ambassadors who staff the new contact center will use dedicated software to help route issues to the right department, track issues, and provide feedback on reported issues. On the askGTX website, users can upload photos or videos related to an issue and use a map to drop a pin or enter an address for an issue. The askGTX website also includes a knowledge base or FAQ with answers to common questions or issues. Residents also can request a new FAQ entry on the askGTX site.
βWe are excited to introduce askGTX to provide an easy way for residents and visitors to find information, report an issue to us, or get connected to City services,β City Manager David Morgan said. βWith the askGTX platform and our trained ambassadors, we have simplified resident interactions with the City with the goal of offering a better customer service experience as well as increased efficiency in our operations.β
The askGTX service is staffed with nine employees and has an annual budget of $1.1 million.
Residents should continue to call 911 for emergencies and contact theΒ public safety nonemergency number or webpageΒ for issues, including noise complaints, parking violations, or vandalism.
For utility issues such as electric or water outages, water leaks, bill payments or questions, starting or stopping utility service, or rebates, residents or customers should continue to contactΒ Customer Care.
Connect with askGTX online 24/7 atΒ georgetowntexas.gov/askGTXΒ or by phone 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday atΒ 512-930-CITY (512-930-2489).
