Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell has resigned from his local position to accept an appointment in the Trump administration. The Georgetown native will now serve as the Region 6 advocate in the Office of Advocacy at the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The announcement came during todayβs Williamson County Commissioners Court meeting in Georgetown. Following his resignation, District Judge Betsy Lambeth conducted the swearing-in ceremony for Gravellβs federal role just moments later, marking a rapid transition between his county and federal responsibilities.
Gravellβs new position will have him representing small business concerns across five states β Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico. This federal advocacy role places him at a critical junction between national policy and small business development throughout the southern central region.
The change represents a significant shift for WilCo leadership. Throughout his time as county judge, Gravell has built relationships with the Georgetown business community and led various economic development efforts across Williamson County.
WilCo officials have initiated the process to identify Gravellβs replacement on the bench. Standard county protocols are being implemented to maintain seamless services for Georgetown residents and all Williamson County citizens during this leadership transition.
The departure of one of Georgetownβs most visible public officials to Washington creates a notable change in the local political landscape, as Gravell shifts from Williamson County governance to federal service while maintaining his Central Texas connections.
