The Georgetown Project is inviting picklers of all skill levels to rally with them during the first ever TGP Pickleball Jam. The combination pickleball tournament and fundraiser takes place 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the Georgetown Tennis Center, 400 Serenada Drive in Georgetown.Β
βThis event is not just a tournament,β said Melissa Seigman, Community Engagement Coordinator for the organization. βItβs a chance to make a significant impact in our community while enjoying a fun-filled day! Our aim is simple: unite our community, create joyful memories, and raise essential funds for our cause.β
Early Bird registration is $50 per player, now until March 15.Β The fee will increase to $60 after that and until March 30, when registration closes. The fee includes individual tournament entry, a T-shirt, one meal and a swag bag.Β Β
With 12 courts ready for competition, participants will battle it out in divisions tailored to skill levels, ensuring an inclusive atmosphere that welcomes players of all ages and abilities. Every player is guaranteed to play four games during the event.
Founded in 1997, The Georgetown Project is a community-based nonprofit aiming to create a community βwhere no child is hungry, hurt, alone or rejected, and where all children and youth believe they are loved, respected and treated with dignity,β according to its vision statement.Β
The Project assists children and their support systems through programs such as the Bridges to Growth Parent Center, The NEST Empowerment Center and the Summer Youth Employment Program.
The Pickleball Jam fundraising event is put on in partnership with the GTX Pickleball Association, a well-regarded, local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing community engagement through pickleball.
In addition to participating in the tournament, businesses and organizations can support The Project through becoming an event sponsor.Β
βBy becoming a sponsor, youβll not only help us curate a remarkable event but also gain invaluable visibility among an enthusiastic, community-oriented audienceβyour potential customers!β Seigman said.Β
