The original Gumboโs opened in May of 1994 at 14735 Bratton Lane, Suite #310, in a strip mall that, at the time, was in a rural area of North Austin. The husband and wife team of Michael and Yoli Amr are the creators and founders of Gumboโs. Originally from outside of Baton Rouge, Michael created all of the recipes seen even on todayโs menu.
After several years of great success, Mike and Yoli decided to move the restaurant to Round Rock, TX. Serving dinner only, they changed both the menu and atmosphere to create an upscale feel. In May of 1999, Fired Up, Inc. acquired Gumboโs โ A Louisiana Style Cafรฉ from St. Gumbeaux, Inc. Mike and Yoli Amr are now both deceased.
In April 2005, Shuler and Denise Page purchased the Round Rock location and continued to serve quality service and food for 7 years. In April 2012, Shuler and Denise Page did not negotiate a new lease and decided to move to a larger location wherein they would have greater catering capabilities, a private party room, a bar, and a larger dining room.
This brings them to their home since 2012, The Old Masonic Lodge located on the Historical Georgetown Square.
The concept is positioned in the upscale but casual dining segment. While offering an authentic and distinctive dining experience, Gumboโs showcases some of the greatest flavors to come out of any French-inspired Cajun kitchen. The full menu is innovative and diverse, offering quality food, generous portions, and value pricing. While we do serve Cajun recipes, we do stress to our customers that all of our food is served cooked to order, therefore, does not have to be Cajun spiced.
The success of Gumboโs now and in the future is determined by the hard work and dedication of the managers and the entire staff. We want every โguestโ that walks through our front door to feel welcome as if they are in our own home. We firmly believe in word of mouth advertising, accomplished through learning our guestsโ names, providing quality service, exceptional execution, superior food, and the dedication of our staff. As employees of Gumboโs, we strive to exceed guest expectations and provide them with โLagniappe,โ a Cajun term meaning โa little something extra.โ
