The Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 is offering two education courses for teens.
“JP3 Teen Leadership Academy,” and “What Every Teen Should Know About Texas Law,” will both be available to high school students. Applications for both courses are due by May 24, 2021. Details from Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 about each course can be found below:
JP3 Teen Leadership Academy
The JP3 Teen Leadership Academy is a free and immersive program on the inner workings of JP3 Court. This program is a weeklong experience designed to educate high school aged students on how a Justice Court functions. This service-learning program is led by members of the JP3 court staff and special guest speakers who will provide our young people with inner workings of a JP court system. This program also provides an opportunity for participants to interact and network with students from other schools and allows them to form relationships and contacts
with peers, presenters and members of the community.
To be eligible for the JP3 Teen Leadership Academy, applicants must:
- Be currently attending high school (public, private or home school).
- Reside within the boundaries of Williamson County, Precinct 3
Must have parental approval and support to attend daily classes. Student may request either session:
- The first session will be August 2 – 6, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- The second session will be August 9 – 13, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00
p.m. - The group will meet at the JP3 court located at 100 Wilco Way, Suite
204, Georgetown, Texas. - Have a strong interest in being a contributing adult in our community and
society. - Demonstrate a high level of maturity, responsibility and willingness to work
with others. - Must be committed to the completion of the program in its entirety.
- Must have transportation to and from meetings.
- Must submit a completed application for program consideration.

What Every Teen Should Know About Texas Laws
What Every Teen Should Know About Texas Law is a unique program created by the Williamson County Justice of the Peace, Pct. 3 Court. The intention of the program is to familiarize teens with the various elements of Texas laws and the Justice Court system.
This program is a free, ten-week experience designed for students who are going into their junior and senior year of high school. What Every Teen Should Know About Texas Laws provides a curriculum to acquaint young adults on how Texas laws impact all citizens and the role the justice courts have in the process of the consequences of not adhering to these laws. This
program is led by engaging presenters who will provide our young people with engaging topics and knowledge of laws and court. This program also provides an opportunity for participants to interact and network with students from other schools and allows them to form relationships and contacts with peers, presenters and members of the community.
To be eligible for the What Every Teen Should Know About Texas Laws, applicants must:
- Be currently attending high school (public, private or home school) going into 11th or 12th grade.
- Reside within the boundaries of Williamson County, Precinct 3 (map attached).
- Must have parental approval and support to attend weekly classes.
- The group will meet each Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, August 23, 2021 and ending on Monday, November 8, 2021 (there will be no class on September 6, 2021 which is Labor Day).
- Have a strong interest in being a contributing adult in our community and society.
- Demonstrate a high level of maturity, responsibility and willingness to work with others.
- Must be committed to the completion of the program in its entirety.
- Must have transportation to and from meetings.
- Must submit a completed application for program consideration.
