At a Gift of Time Georgetown, their mission is to make a positive impact on the lives of those with mild to moderate memory loss, their caregivers and the community at large. The organization does this by offering resources, like free virtual programs for caregivers, to better educate the community.
The Living Well with Dementia education series provides caregivers education about what dementia is, the different types of dementia, behaviors, and how to prepare for the journey of living with dementia.
Additionally, their upcoming courses also include insight into navigating Medicare 101, how to stay safe online if you’re living with someone who suffers from memory loss, and information on a little know brain disorder called frontotemporal degeneration.
Ultimately, the organization wants to educate and empower people to know that those who live with memory loss can still continue to live full lives and are important, contributing members in the community.
A Gift of Time Georgetown also has a goal is open Georgetown’s first adult day center specializing in dementia. Currently, a Gift of Time Board of Directors is honored to have the St. David’s Foundation as a community partner. The foundation awarded a $500,000 grant in 2020 for the eventual build out of the building.
