The Georgetown Recreation Center is partnering with We Are Blood to host a community blood drive on Friday, September 17.
The drive will be held at the Georgetown Recreation Center from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
βCome lend a helping arm to support your community and save local lives,β Georgetown Parks and Recreation wrote. βWe encourage everyone who is eligible to come and donate β it is so important.β
In order to be eligible, donors must:
- Be at least 17 years old and in good health
- Eat a good meal 2-3 hours prior to donation
- Bring a government-issued photo ID
- Weigh 115 lbs or more
- Have a blood pressure below 180/100 (checked free of charge)
- Have a temperature within normal limits (checked free of charge)
- Have a Hematocrit of at least 38% (checked free of charge)
- Have a pulse between 50 and 100 bmp (checked free of charge)

Currently, the drive is taking only donors with appointments (no walk-ins) and donors should pre-register online at wrbdonor.org or by phone at 512-206-1242 or 512-206-1266.
