On October 15, 2021, Living Grace Canine Ranch and iconic Georgetown philanthropist Jack Garey will open the doors of Gareyβs Big Dog Bunkhouse.
Headquartered in Georgetown, Texas, Living Grace Canine Ranchβs first bunkhouse opened in Bertram, Texas in November 2020 to address the plight of Texas senior dogs. With less than 10% of shelter animals suffering from issues that are impossible to treat or cure, Texas euthanizes nearly sixty percent of unwanted senior dogs, sometimes in a matter of days. Founder Rhonda Minardi created the sanctuary to provide a much-needed home to abandoned, abused and ill senior dogs, who are frequently deemed unadoptable at shelters. Within less than a year and so many homeless dogs in need, Ms. Minardi sought to build additional housing at The Ranch.
After visiting Living Grace Canine Ranch last March, Mr. Garey answered the call to help Texas senior dogs by funding the second bunkhouse, a 4,000 sq. ft. structure. The Garey Big Dog Bunkhouse offers twenty-five apartments designed explicitly for the aging comforts of large breeds, contains a veterinary/wellness clinic and a concrete reinforced storm shelter.
βIβve had dogs all my life, and I really admire Rhonda for what sheβs doing. Sheβs taking on a whole lot and giving 100 percent. Sheβs running a good ship and taking good care of the dogs. It was important to me to help support this vital resource in our community,β said Mr. Garey.
While serving as a sanctuary facility with a Forever Foster program, Living Grace Canine Ranch also provides education and advocacy for the well-being and care of senior dogs throughout the state of Texas and beyond.
βThanks to Mr. Garyβs generous donation, we can save the lives of more homeless Texas senior dogs by offering new beginnings. For us, it began as a question, then a vision of what could be and now Living Grace Canine Ranch answering the howls of old dogs to give the love and care they so deserve. We will continue to strive to bring the community together to do better by graying muzzles and people,β said Ms. Minardi.
