The Workforce Development Alliance of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the City of Georgetown and Georgetown ISD in sponsoring Manufacturing Day 2021 on Friday, October 22 for Career and Technical Education students in Georgetown ISD.
Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing and highlights manufacturers in Georgetown. Georgetown has a relatively high concentration of manufacturing employment, representing nearly 11 percent of jobs in the city.
Forecasts show a 30 percent growth in employment in advanced manufacturing by 2021, according to the Cityβs recent analysis. Manufacturers participating in the 2021 Manufacturing Day include:
- AirBorn
- Chatsworth Products
- Radiation Detection Company
- Schunk Xycarb Technology
- TASUS Texas
- TECO Westinghouse
- Staccato 2011
- R & D Molders
About 40 students will tour the companies in small groups. With an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector, Manufacturing Day is a way to educate students about manufacturing careers and opportunities available to them following graduation, highlight the economic and social significance of manufacturing and to inspire a new generation of manufacturers in Georgetown.
