CASA of Williamson County, Texas
When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help them. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate®, or CASA.
CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system. CASA volunteers are each assigned to help one child or set of siblings at a time, so they can focus on giving that child or sibling group the individualized advocacy and attention they need.

Friends of the Georgetown Public Library
The Friends of the Georgetown Public Library is holding our second annual Giving Season campaign.
The focus of this campaign is to help keep our library strong for everyone who has need of its many services. In the past eighteen months, thousands have turned to the Library to unearth new interests, search for a job and get resume help, learn new languages, access educational resources during a long period of inconsistent schooling, and reconnect with their neighbors. Many of these services have been provided by the Friends thanks to the generosity of our community during the 2020 Giving Season.
As needs change, the Friends will continue to provide support to the Library, whether it be existing services, new services, or bringing back services that we became accustomed to prior to Covid. To do that, we need your help. Your donations allow us to:
- Continue supporting the WOW!Mobile and WOW:HD, our bookmobile and home delivery vans
- Bring back live music to the library
- Operate the Second-Hand Prose used bookstore with proceeds benefitting the Library
- Purchase requested printed collections and Book Club in a Bag kits
To meet the Library’s needs in 2022, the goal of the Friends of the Georgetown Public Library is to raise $33,000 by midnight on December 31. Meeting this goal will allow us to aim for new heights in 2022 for our beloved Library.
Please consider making a tax-deductible charitable gift now by visiting https://folgeorgetown.org/product/donation. If you prefer to mail a check, please send it to Friends of the Georgetown Public Library, 402 W. 8th Street, Georgetown, TX 78626. Preservation Georgetown
America’s Bicentennial celebrations in 1976 sparked a nationwide preservation boom. In Georgetown, a group of citizens who had worked diligently on Georgetown’s Bicentennial celebration also had a heightened awareness of historic resources at the local level. It was the vision of this group that led to the formation of the Georgetown Heritage Society.
As its name suggests, the organization’s mission is to preserve and promote interest in Georgetown’s heritage—its historic buildings and sites and the people associated with them, as well as the documents, pictures and other records relating to them. Among PG’s lasting achievements that all Georgetown citizens still enjoy today are organizing the first Christmas Stroll, reviving the old traditional May Fair (now the Red Poppy Festival), starting the Georgetown History and Visitor Information Center (now run by the City) and collecting a substantial repository of historic photographs and documents (now available in our living collection at Southwestern University’s Special Collections). Today Preservation Georgetown works to fulfill our mission in a variety of ways. The most visible is the annual Home Tour, featuring several historic homes that are open to the public. Proceeds from the tour are used to support other PG initiatives including informative programs and educational publications. Most recently (2013), the Olive Street National Register Historic District was established in Georgetown; a project initiated, managed and funded by PG. The charge of the organization continues to expand to meet responsibly the growth and needs of the community – ever mindful of preserving the past for future generations.
