ABOUT
Scene study involves actors taking a specific scene and working on it in front of an acting instructor or a group of peers. The goal is to receive specific constructive feedback that helps the actor improve their craft and their abilities in specific roles. Scene Study is a way for actors to continually work on their craft and discover their strengths and weaknesses. Itβs a great way to take all the exercises and techniques they have learned to create characters, connect to the emotions of the part, and fight for what they need and put them into a performance. Scene Study is a very important part of the actorβs process because it makes the actor harness his or her skill set to create a performance.

ABOUT
The focus is on monologue work using contemporary texts from theater, television and film. Core components of the class include the idea of simply working from yourself, βaction-based actingβ (how one person is trying to change/affect another person in a scene), and how to read a monologue to figure out what your character might want from that situation. Weβve designed the class around very tangible and concrete ideas and techniques, so that those who might be intimidated by the idea of an acting class, or an arts class in general, will feel exceedingly comfortable. It is important to note that while the class is intentionally designed to be as un-intimidating and accessible as possible, students may be asked to work on memorization outside of class.

This is an ideal class for our adult students that want to get some exercise, work on some technique, refresh your skills, or just come and dance!! When registering, please use your first name and “participant” – you’ll need to add a birthday with the year 2000 (our system doesn’t recognize those over 18 yet – we are working on it). ABOUT
Stories have been a primary source of information and entertainment for millenia–and theyβre told in so many ways! How stories evolve as they move from a script to a staged production is the focus of this course. We consider how we show-and-tell stories through writing, acting, costumes, and props. We work together to create characters through voice, movement, and music to bring the stories alive on stage. Throughout the course, we collaborate with classmates as we explore a variety of theatrical forms and experiences including improv!
This is a technique class that does not result in a production.
