Helping Hands of Georgetown has announced their original founders have retired and a new executive director is now overseeing operations.
In early 2022, the Huggins/Weimer families stepped down and retired from their posts in Helping Hands of Georgetown, the organization said.
βI have been honored to serve as the Executive Director for Helping Hands of Georgetown for nearly three years,β Rebecca Huggins, who served as Executive Director, said. βMy Dad, Robert Weimer, the founder and heart and soul behind the mission began our journey in 2015 and launched HHG into existence in 2016. Without his passion to serve and love for this community HHG would be a shell of what it is today and it was my honor to work along side him for so many years.β
Both Robert and Ellen have now officially retired and are enjoying some much need time with grandchildren and are preparing to travel, the organization said. Rebecca will be dedicating her time to growing her new business in nutrition, and supporting her husband in his business as a local cabinetmaker.
Helping Hands of Georgetown is now under the direction of Shasta Thomson, who serves as the new Executive Director for HHG.
βShasta is amazing,β Huggins said. βShe is exceptionally capable and has true heart for this community. She has a desire to support the growth and is mindful of the mission and vision of HHG. We are so excited to see where she takes things.β
While theyβve retired, all three family members will still remain active on the board.
Helping Hands of Georgetown helps those in need including serving 600 brown bags a week and a good hot meal every Sunday night. Their Mobile Food Pantry also helps serve 100 pantry bags each week.
βWhatever the need we hope to find a way (with the help of our VERY generous City) to fill it,β according to the organizationβs website. βThis is a Non-Profit that began with heart and it will grow with HEART!β
