May is National Pet Month. It is a time to celebrate the benefits pets and people have brought to each otherβs lives. It’s a perfect opportunity to show our furry family members appreciation for the unconditional love they give and for how much they enrich our lives.
In the spirit of National Pet Month, Wag Heaven Pet Supplies and Self-Serve Dog Wash is offering ways to give back to local pet rescue and other community organizations, and at the same time spoil your dogs and cats at both of its Georgetown locations.
β’ Toy Drive Fundraiser – Therapy dogs bring many physical and mental benefits to the humans they visit. Georgetown has a local chapter of Pet Partners Therapy Dog program, the non-profit organization that offers training and certification for therapy dogs. Wag Heaven is selling a special selection of plush dog toys to raise funds for the local Pet Partners, located in Sun City. Koda, Georgetown Fire Departmentβs Golden Retriever, and her handler Deputy Fire Marshal Jonathan Gilliam introduced the four toys, which include Firefighter and Police Officer Furst Responders. Supplies are limited and available at both Wag Heaven stores.
β’Β Locally Crafted Recycled Pet Toys – The Animal Beds Group of Sun City, a special interest group of the Fabric and Fiber Club, has found its own way of helping to give back to local pet rescues and shelters. Wag Heaven has partnered with the club to offer a selection of their pet toys made with recycled fabrics, including Tug Toys, Cat Catnip Toys, and Snuffle Mats. All proceeds from Sun City Animal Beds Group items purchased at Wag Heaven will be donated to local pet rescues and shelters.
β’ BiG Dog Treats – BIG (Brookwood in Georgetown), an organization providing opportunities for adults with special needs, has a line of hand-made dog treats by its citizens. Wag Heaven is so excited and proud, now selling the BiG Pup Company Treats at both of its stores. Proceeds will help provide more opportunities for the citizens, and with BiGβs new Grace Place, a 127 acre facility in nearby Weir, offering both tiny and communal homes for its citizens independent living, with plans for a wedding venue and a pet resort.
β’ Dog Wash Fundraiser – benefitting the Georgetown Palace Theater Education Program, Sunday May 22nd 12pm to 4pm – For $20 customers will get a full-serve dog wash that day, plus receive a voucher for a free self-serve dog wash (a $28 value.)
