Helping Hands of Georgetown has teamed up with local nonprofits to expand their pantry program!
βWe are partnering with Georgetown Family YMCA and Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown Texas to serve their Summer camp families Pantry Bags throughout the summer,β the organization wrote on Facebook. βWe anticipate about 100 Pantry bags a week and for those that have been following our work this doubles our regular output and we couldnβt be happier to be providing some #foodsecurity for more local families!β
Rebecca Huggins, Executive Director for Helping Hands of Georgetown, said the program expansion is filling a vital need for many families during the summer months.
βI am most excited at the prospect of assisting families during the summer months with this crucial necessity,β Rebecca Huggins told Hello Georgetown. βBased on our projections for the program we are looking at doubling our pantry bag output and thatβs huge for us. It means an additional 100 (what we plan so far) families will have pantry staples to support their family each week. Weekly groceries they wonβt have to pay for, allowing them to budget for rent, utilities or other bills.β
Huggins added the pantry is looking for donations through PayPal, check or cash, as well as physical pantry bags and food donations.
βWe truly appreciate all of your support and we are so excited to have this opportunity to grow and expand we what do and love here in GTX,β the organization said. βHelping Hands Operation CommUnity KIDS is a GO!β
