Hello Georgetown!
Iโd like to start by saying our hearts are heavy this week as we mourn with all those impacted by the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. There are no words I can say or write that will take away the pain and heartbreak. My family and I have been, and will continue praying for all those who are suffering.
This week in Georgetown has been a busy one for sure. As May comes to a close and summer begins, thereโs plenty going on in town. Wag Heaven has been celebrating National Pet Month by giving back to local organizations, thereโs still a few days left in the month to participate in the activities and events theyโve got going on for the month. Also, Cookie Co. Georgetown has teamed up with Brookwood in Georgetown and is now carrying some of the products made by the Citizens at BiG!
Letโs also give a big hello to our newest business directory member: Markus Lindsey Photography! You may have seen him and his work around town. With a focus on real estate and family lifestyle photographer, he also has passion for wildlife and landscape photography and sells his work at markets and festivals on the weekends. Read his full business directory listing below.
In business news, Outland Construction Co., Inc. has officially moved to Georgetown, and Ubiquity has broken ground on their open-access fiber system in the city. Weโve also sadly learned that Nightingale Bistro has announced they will be closing their doors on Sunday, May 29th.
Also in the news this week, the newest members of the Georgetown City Council have been officially sworn in, and our community made national headlines this week as Georgetown was named the fastest-growing city in the U.S. (for the second time). We have full details on these stories in the newsletter below.
If youโre looking for some pick-me-up stories this week, check out our feature on how the Georgetown community recently rallied together to bring some extra joy to a senior home, and learn more about how Georgetown organization Seeds of Strength recently awarded $185,000 in grants to several local nonprofits.
Finally, I hope you have a safe and good Memorial Day weekend โ there are several events happening throughout Georgetown, you can find all those events and additional information (i.e. who will be open/closed on Memorial Day, etc.) in our annual guide.
May we each take a moment this weekend to reflect on and remember all those who have paid the ultimate price in service to our country.
These are just a few of the updates we have for you this week!
