Hello!
As we approach the 21st anniversary of the September 11th attacks, my heart goes out to all the individuals and families who were and continue to be impacted. We mourn with them, we pray for them and our hearts goes out to them.
The Georgetown Fire and Police Departments will be participating in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the GISD Football Stadium on Sunday, September 11th at 8 AM to honor the lives of the 403 emergency responders who died. Participation is open to all fire department, police department, EMS employees and military personnel, the public is welcome and encouraged to observe and support.
With your September calendars at the ready, on September 17th, Wag Heaven will be hosting a pet vigil and unveiling a new mural at their Downtown location. The public is invited to attend and details can be found in this weekโs newsletter. You can also find our full community calendar with additional local events below.
Also, with school back in session, Huntington Learning Center is offering some great tips in their monthly Education Spotlight feature on how parents can help their children confront learning issues. Weโre also excited to introduce a new feature section called Tech Tip Tuesday with Computek! You can read the first edition of that in this weekโs newsletter.
In business news, weโve learned Planet Nutrition is coming to Georgetown and Anchored Wellness is opening up a second location on the Downtown Georgetown Square! We have the latest on both of these stories below.
Plus, Helping Hands of Georgetown is gearing up to host their 1st Annual Party in the Parking Lot on Sunday, September 25th. The event will feature a variety of activities including fresh BBQ from Jimmy Vegaโs Smokehouse, ice cream from Scoops, a dunk tank competition featuring local celebrities, live music, raffle items and a silent auction, and a free kids area which will have food, games, face painting, and more! Learn more about how to attend in this weekโs newsletter.
Finally, have you had a chance to check out our Adopt a Pet guide? If youโve been considering adding a furry family member, or youโre in a position to foster an animal from one of our local shelters, this is a great place to start! In the guide, you can view all the animals available for adoption or fostering at each of the animal shelters located in Georgetown, TX.
