The Time Game Series is a preteen/young adult sci-fi series written by multi-published, award-winning author D. A. Featherling. It follows the adventures of twins Marcus and Samantha Willoughby as they travel through time and space on their quest to unlock the secrets of a mysterious board game. Along the way, they encounter weather-weary sailors, Martian criminals, unscrupulous hunters, and Civil War spies, with no shortage of peril.
Featherling makes appearances for book signings as well as gives talks at civic clubs and organizations, schools (public and private), book clubs, and special events, including fund raisers. An event can be scheduled by contacting her by phone or e-mail.
Current projects include: other books in the Time Game series, several e-books on giving school presentations, and a non-fiction book designed for people who need to physically get up and get moving.
Featherling worked for several different agencies of the State of Texas and as the administrator for a physics research center at UT-Austin. She also owned and operated a home staging business in Central Texas for a number of years. Her acquaintance with interesting people from around the world gives her much to draw on while creating her characters and stories.
She is now retired and lives in Georgetown, Texas where she is a full-time author and doting grandmother.
PRE-TEEN/YA SCI-FI BOOKS
The Eye of the Storm: The First Token
When twins Marcus and Samantha Willoughby discover a dusty old game in an attic, life will never be the same. While handling the playing board they are swept into the past and find themselves in the middle of more excitement than they ever dreamed. They must survive a dangerous storm, an unusual kidnapper, and the possibility of shipwreck – and at the same time figure out how to traverse time and space and return home.
Mission to Mars: The Second Token
The Willoughby twins are swept into the year 2048 as the Time Game places them aboard a spaceship on its way to the Red Planet – Mars. At first, it only appears there’s an interesting visit ahead, but they soon discover there are bad guys even in the future. Marcus and Samantha are determined to solve the reason for a mysterious attack and theft, and see justice done for the spaceship’s pilot.
But will they be able to outwit the criminals before returning to their own time? Or will they have to consider their mission to Mars a failure?
The Lost City of Acara: The Third Token
Piranhas, jaguars, and snakes…oh, no!
Marcus and Samantha Willoughby are prepared to face danger on their jungle trek. They expect trouble from creatures, but not from treasure hunters seeking to hold them for ransom. With the help of a friendly Indian, the brother and sister escape and take refuge in some ancient ruins. When the bad guys catch up, the twins face deadly peril again. They flee the lost city of Acara to take their chances on the run. Can they elude their pursuers long enough to return to their own time? Or will the jungle depths claim them forever?
My Spy: The Fourth Token
Spies to the left…spies to the right
Spies to the north…spies to the south
Spies everywhere…or so it seems
The Willoughby twins are only supposed to make a quick trip to the Civil War to help Marcus with a school project. Separated as they travel through time, they land in different Southern cities. When each of them encounters a spy on opposing sides of the conflict they must either aid, or outwit, two determined females. Can the twins manage to overcome the dangers of war and the deception of dedicated spies so they can find each other? Even if they have to do a little spying themselves? Because if they don’t, there won’t be a return trip home for them…ever.
The series will contain 13 books, each based on a board game square
