City of Georgetown Holiday Closures and Safety Tips
The City of Georgetown will observe closures during both Christmas 2024 and New Yearβs 2025 holidays, impacting facilities, services, and operations. Below are the details for each holiday period to help residents plan accordingly.
Christmas Closures: Dec. 24-25, 2024
City offices and facilities closed on Dec. 24-25 include:
- Art Center: 816 S. Main St.
- Animal Shelter: 110 W.L. Walden Drive
- City Hall: 808 Martin Luther King Jr. St.
- Council and Courts Building (including Municipal Court): 510 W. Ninth St.
- Georgetown Municipal Complex: 300-1 Industrial Ave.
- Grace Heritage Center: 817 S. Main St.
- Parks and Recreation Administration: 1101 N. College St.
- Planning Department: 809 Martin Luther King Jr. St.
- Public Safety Operations and Training Center (Police Records and Fire Support Services): 3500 D.B. Wood Road
- Visitors Center: 103 W. Seventh St.
Additional closures for facilities with weekend or evening hours:
- Airport Terminal: 500 Terminal Drive β Closed Dec. 25.
- Garey Park: 6450 RM 2243 β Closed Dec. 24-25.
- Georgetown Public Library: 402 W. Eighth St. β Closed Dec. 24-25; early closing at 6 p.m. on Dec. 23.
- Recreation Center: 1003 N. Austin Ave. β Closed Dec. 24-25.
- Tennis Center: 400 Serenada Drive β Closed Dec. 24-25.
- Transfer Station: 250 W.L. Walden Drive β Closed Dec. 25.
Solid Waste and Recycling Adjustments for Christmas:
- No solid waste or recycling collection on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Fireworks and Safety Tips
Fireworks Regulations in Georgetown:
Fireworks are prohibited within city limits and within 5,000 feet of city limits, unless authorized by the Georgetown Fire Department. Recent updates to the ordinance now hold homeowners and property hosts accountable for violations on their property, in addition to the person discharging the fireworks.
- Violations can result in fines of up to $2,000 per firework.

Pet Safety During Fireworks:
- Keep pets indoors, especially during evenings.
- Play calming music to reduce stress.
