Memorial Service for Georgetown Firefighter Set for April 17

A memorial service for Georgetown firefighter/paramedic Kurt Lentz is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, at Celebration Church, 601 Westinghouse Road. All are welcome to attend.

Lentz, 33, passed away Friday, April 11, after a crash involving his motorcycle and another vehicle on Hwy. 29 west of Wolf Ranch Parkway. Lentz was traveling home from work at the time of the accident and was wearing a helmet.

Lentz previously worked as a firefighter for Bexar County Emergency Services District No. 7 and joined the Georgetown Fire Department on Aug. 5, 2019.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident at the City’s request.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our brother, Kurt Lentz, on April 11, 2025. Kurt was and remains a symbol of strength within our Fire Department and community. As a close-knit fire family, we are struggling through this loss. During the coming days and weeks, we are focusing our hearts, prayers, and support to Kurt’s wife, son, and family. We are asking you to honor the family’s privacy during this challenging time.

Kurt was proud to serve the City of Georgetown, and we are equally proud to honor his life and service.
