We understand from one of the owners, John Montgomery, owner of Roberts Printing, that it’s Georgetown’s first ever Poker Club.

Heritage Crossing – We understand this is the name of the development at the old Eat’s On 8th Location; corner of 8th and Church, across the street from 600 Degrees Pizza.
The new space will have Retail and Restaurant on the first floor and office space on the second floor.

12/28/18 – There’s a really big sign at the corner of 8th and Church Street. It’s the old location of Eats On 8th.
For the newbies – On December 17th 2016 Eats on 8th was the site of a fire after an issue with faulty water heaters, the restaurant never re-opened and was torn down.
Now, this sign is promising a new building is coming Summer 2019! And they also say the new space will be for restaurant, office or retail.

Wolf Lakes Village Italian Style Development – Updated 4/16/19
4/16/19 – We have now learned, from the City, that this project is expected to break ground for utilities sometime in 2019.
12/18 – From the City…”Initial plans for….Wolf Lakes Village were approved by the Georgetown City Council at their meeting last night 12/11. The project includes office, retail, entertainment, hotels, and 2,400 housing units totaling 5.3 million square feet of development phased over several years. Earlier in 2018 – This development is underway! With many city approvals including the Phasing Plan, Architectural Site Plan, Planned Unit Development and more. To be built out within 10 years.
The development would include 4 million square feet of space for corporate campuses, a cathedral, bell tower, apartments, homes and retail. Ms. Wolf McLachlan described a place where people could live, work, shop and play.
Located at Interstate 35 and Texas Hwy 29; the community would include a wedding chapel, three lakes, a plaza and arched bridges, a cinema, cathedral and 3500-seat amphitheater.

River Place Development – Updated 4/16/19
It’s been a while since we have heard or reported anything on the River Place Development. Today we did hear something and thought it was worth noting.
Ken went to the Chamber of Commerce monthly Breakfast Links today. Michaela Dollar, Economic Development Director, for the City confirmed that the River Place Development is still in the works.
This will be across Austin Avenue from El Monumnto, there’s an empty lot with two bill boards there now. The property is located along the San Gabriel River.
Added 9/9/18 – Developers Sam and Rebecca Pfister have big plans for the block located along South Austin Avenue, across from El Monumento Restaurant.
Plans for Phase I of the development include a three story building with covered parking and office Space on the first floor, office space on the second floor and apartments on the third floor. Continue Reading
Whoo Hoo! We have opening information! They are expected to open early to mid July and they will have a food truck at the 4th of July Celebration.
Austin based Texas Barbecue; PoK-e-Jo’s is coming to Georgetown Texas.
They now have 5 locations; 4 in Austin and one in Round Rock.
We have learned that PoK-e-Jo’s is coming and that they will occupy the space where La Playa Mexican Restaurant used to be located.

2/5/19 – We’ve spoken with the owner and it won’t be long until Smoothie King opens in Wolf Ranch! Their location will be where the Fire House Subs used to be facing the IH-35 Service Road.
We are always curious about who’s coming to our little town so we did a bit of research on Smoothie King, here’s what we found… We learned that the founder, Steve Kuhnau, began blending to solve his chronic food allergies in 1973.

The April 14th edition of the Williamson County Sun included an article that added a few details to our information.
We learned that Karl Meixsell and his wife Dina Meixsell are the owners.
This is what they had to say to describe their new venue, “(Barrels and Amps) will cater to a sophisticated, mature audience and feature upscale entertainment designed to draw visitors from all over.
“We want to bring entertainers we think people would come from outside Georgetown to see.
“Barrels and Amps will be for people who want a great experience and care about quality. If you want to find a cheap place to get a beer, you’ll have to find it somewhere else.”
The article also said that the opening will be in about 6 more weeks. That would put the opening around June 1st.

2/27/19 Update – We have spoken with the fine folks over at Barrels & Amps and we have news about the opening!
The target soft opening for the bar side is scheduled for Saturday May 4th and the Target Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday May 11th!! These dates are dependent on getting everything approved by the city by that time.
They are planning to knock our socks off with an elevated bar menu from their Chef, their seasoned veteran staff and a full bar with 75 draft beers.
The new owners are very excited about offering two stages with something fun going on all the time, like Two Step Tuesday and Dueling Pianos. Expect a casual laid back atmosphere with tight security and something for everybody.

2/20/19 – It’s the new 2 story home of the Watkins Insurance Group and tenants.
Construction began on the 9,600 sq. ft. building last July (2018) and is scheduled for completion summer 2019.

3/5/19 – We’ve spoken with the owners about the second 600 Degrees Pizza location, the new 600 Degrees Market! And we have some exciting details for you…
The new production kitchen will allow for less waiting at both locations and will feature a state-of-the-art brick oven.
When you visit you can enjoy open case artisan and craft beer, seating in their new covered courtyard and inside seating.

Recently we had the pleasure of visiting with a few of the owners. We learned about their new bistro, their plans for Red Poppy Festival, their 2 outdoor spaces and a whole lot more…
The store will open in late April before the Red Poppy Festival (April 26th thru 28th).
They are planning a few specials for us on Saturday and Sunday during Red Poppy including Live Music from The Barnyard Boys both afternoons.
Also during Poppy Fest – come by and enjoy their Coffee Cart and a Grab and Go Case.
The store will have a Bistro. We’ll be able to enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio, meet a client, have a meeting with a study group or book club, have a casual date or grab a snack.
They will be offering coffee, snacks, soups, sandwiches, cocktails, mocktails, beer and wine.

4/4/19 – From the folks at HTeaO, “HTeaO is getting close to breaking ground! Permitting fees are paid so we are closer! “We will build our store within 90 days of permitting.
“We are asking for our soon to be new hometown help us with liking our new HTeaO Facebook page.
“We will be able to provide updates to our community that way. Plus, we are going to have an extremely exciting give away announced very soon on our Facebook page, I promise you won’t want to miss it!”
HTeaO will include a custom tea bar with 22 flavors of sweet and unsweet iced tea. They will also feature a full line of YETI merchandise and healthy snack options featuring Project7, Clif Bars, Clint & Sons Beef Jerky and many others.

We have heard that there will be a brand new store near Sun City. We are working to confirm.
We also have heard that the KFC on the IH-35 service road has a new owner, will be going through a major renovation, and is back open now.

HEB on Hwy 29 and IH-35 – Added 3/29/19
There’s a lot of work going on behind the HEB store on University Ave, we thought it might be the beginning of the ‘new’ store.
So, we went inside and spoke with the store manager and she said they are not getting a new store. The work going on behind is working on the pipes.
I explained that a new store appears in plans we’ve seen and she said they were told “no new store”, that’s why they have been upgrading the current store.

There’s a new development being proposed along Shell Road, just north of Williams Drive.
According to our sources the city has begun the process of approval.
The developer is proposing 1,047 single-family homes, 246 town homes, and 220 multi-family units, 13 acres of commercial/retail/office, 28 acres of public parkland, two amenity centers, an internal trail with the ability to connect with a future trail to West Side Park, and additional open space.

Firestone Complete Auto Care is one of the stores slated for the Wolf Crossing Development. We spoke with a manager at the Round Rock store and learned that they are planning to open a store in Georgetown. The services they offer will include tires, brakes and oil changes.

Parmer Ranch Development – Added 3/6/19
Williams Drive and Ronald Reagan Blvd.
Parmer Ranch is a new development approved by the City Council at their meeting last week.
The total development is 454 acres. At build-out, the proposal allows for a maximum of 1,170 single-family homes, multi-family development, a neighborhood amenity center, an elementary school, 47 acres of open space, for trails, parks, storm water management and water quality features, and 70 acres for office, retail, and medical uses.

It’s looking more official all the time. We have several references to the Georgetown Aldi, we even have a location map now from the developer that says ALDI on it!

2/26/19 – Academy Sports has confirmed that they will be opening this fall in the Bluebonnet Plaza.
1/2/19 – It appears that Academy Sports + Outdoors is coming to Georgetown Texas. According to the developers brochure it will be located in Bluebonnet Plaza.
The location is the north west corner of the intersection of Wolf Ranch Parkway and Hwy 29; across from the new Natural Grocers.

Five Below is one of the new stores slated for the Bluebonnet Shopping Center; located across from Natural Grocers on West University Blvd.
Here’s the description we found on their Facebook Page; “Five Below is a store of unlimited possibilities where tweens, teens, and beyond let go & have fun while finding the coolest stuff for $5 or less in over 700 stores and online.”

Here’s another large retailer coming to Georgetown TX! It’s Bed Bath & Beyond and they are going to be located in the new Bluebonnet Plaza across from Natural Grocers on Hwy 29.

Bluebonnet Plaza – Update 1/27/19

The target date for completion is sometime in 2020.
Added – 10/11/18 – This development, located across from Natural Grocers at the corner of Wolf Ranch Parkway and Hwy 29, will offer over 600,000 sf of rental space. The developers are expecting Party City, Five Below and Academy Sports plus a daycare, grocery store, fitness and medical.

New Downtown Parking Garage – Added 1/26/19
This past Tuesday the City Council was presented with plans for a new parking garage and parking lot.
At a cost of $5,000,000, the proposed 4 story Parking Garage would include approx 200 parking spaces, an elevator and two staircases; and it would be just under 44 feet tall.

12/16/18 – It looks like we are getting more parking downtown! The City is working on a parking garage that would be located behind the Municipal Court Building at Main and 7th Streets.
The new garage would be located on the lot that now has 47 parking spaces. The new parking garage would offer 200 parking spaces.
Also, the city plans to add another 76 parking spaces across from the Library on 8th street. The new parking lot will take the place of existing county buildings. The plans will go before the city council this spring.
P. Terry’s Burger Stand – Added 1/15/19
The popular burger chain, P. Terry’s is coming to the new Development, Wolf Crossing located in the south east corner of IH35 and University Ave.
The development is set to be completed later this year so we should be able to enjoy some P. Terry’s Burgers in the not too distant future!

It’s a breakfast and lunch restaurant. This is one of the restaurants slated to be completed by the end of 2019 at the new Wolf Crossing Development at IH35 and University.

Downtown Georgetown – Historic Post Office, Steakhouse and Ballroom – Updated 12/16/18
Georgetown’s Historic Post Office building located across from 600 Degrees will have new owners soon and they are planning to preserve the historic character of the building.

10/18 – The City of Georgetown has approved the real estate contract for the sale of two Downtown Buildings, the City Hall (Old Post Office Building) located at 113 East 8th Street, and the The Municipal Court/City Council Chambers located at 101 E. Seventh Street.
The proposals include a restaurant and micro-distillery, bar and ballroom.

Black Box Barbecue Permanent Location – Updated 11/18/18
After speaking with John Meuller on Friday, we understand that they are considering another location as well.
We’ve been by the future location a couple of times and they haven’t started any work that we can see. Still a for sale sign in front.
The new location will be at 1008 South Rock Street and feature a full bar and larger menu. You may remember that Black Box Barbecue opened their food truck located at 201 East Ninth Street (across from Sweet Lemon Inn) during the Red Poppy Festival in 2017.
Expected opening date – late 2018 or early 2019.

EchoPark® Automotive, a neighborhood-based approach to selling premium, previously-owned automobiles, is building a new store at 6801 S IH35 in Georgetown on the motor mile (just north of Mac Haik Ford).
HOLT® CAT – Updated 10/6/18

We’ve been to the Holt Cat Location and they are making a little progress, it seems, here’s an updated image.
Holt Cat broke ground on their 85,000 ft facility January 30th. The 75 acres where Holt Cat will be is located along Airport Road and is tagged for small-scale industry and commercial use. The city is expecting to see more growth in this area.
Their expected completion date is summer 2019.

Westinghouse Business Center – Added 10/10/18
The Georgetown City Council approved an economic development agreement that paves the way for the construction of a 98,000-square-foot business park on Westinghouse Road between FM 1460 and Mays Street.
The Westinghouse Business Center will provide speculative space for a variety of commercial uses, such as medical, technology and professional services, as well as retail space. Continue Reading
