The site of the original McCoy Elementary School on Williams Driveβwhich has been a vacant parcel for several yearsβis once again going to bear fruit for the Georgetown community, as new owner Partners Capital recently shared its plans to redevelop the land into a state-of-the-art multi-purpose property!
Partners Capitalβthe investment management platform and development arm of Partners Real Estate Company, a top-four-largest privately-held and independently-owned commercial real estate firm in Texasβpurchased the 12.7-acre site from the Georgetown Independent School District in mid-December 2021. The company told Hello Georgetown they are planning to build a mixed-use development for multi-family residential space and three to four commercial buildings that would house a variety of services including retail stores, medical offices, and restaurants.
Partners Capital will also develop a plaza with walking trails to enhance the area without intruding on the already established homes and businesses. The first phase of construction is projected to begin in the second half of 2022 and is estimated to be completed by the second quarter of 2023.
“The original Raye McCoy Elementary School was constructed at 1313 Williams Drive to serve as Georgetown Junior High School, opening in September, 1964, with grades 6-8 attending,” according to the Georgetown Independent School District. “As Georgetown grew in the 2000’s, the district outgrew the aging facility. With funds from the 2010 bond, a new McCoy Elementary was built and opened in the fall of 2012 to serve students in kinder through 5th grade. The old McCoy on Williams Drive became the district annex to house support staff as well as the Bridges program (18+) and the Boys and Girls Club. It served in that capacity until early 2019 when the building was razed and the property was later put up for sale.”
We will post future updates as we receive them, stay tuned!
