February 8, 2022 – The Little Lemon at the Library is coming to Georgetown!
The new eatery will be located inside the Georgetown Public Library where Red Poppy Cafe used to be. Rachel Cummins, owner of Sweet Lemon Kitchen, told Hello Georgetown that The Little Lemon at the Library is an extension of what she and her team are doing at Sweet Lemon.
“It is an offshoot of what we already are doing at Sweet Lemon, but just on a smaller scale,” Rachel Cummins said. “We just loved the way it came together, The Little Lemon at the Library.”
Customers can expect to find many of the same great eats they have come to love at Sweet Lemon, and some unique things as well.
“We may have a few different things, but a lot of similar items, mostly it will be grab and go items, pre-made items that we are actually making at Sweet Lemon,” Cummins said. “They’ll be freshly made at Sweet Lemon and brought over to the Little Lemon…we’ll have fresh pastries, coffee, tea, lemonade. We’ll have sandwiches, salads and soups.”
Georgetown won’t have to wait too long before they can stop by The Little Lemon at the Library.
“We are planning to be open soon,” Cummins said. “We’re looking to move quickly for this.”
The Little Lemon at the Library is also expected to feature a mural by Georgetown artist Sarah Blankenship, something that highlights the “heart of the community.”
“One thing that we really loved about the library space is that [it] really fit our vision,” Cummins said. ” Our vision is a happy space that nourishes the body, refreshes the spirit and connects to the heart of the community…we really love the library in itself and our kids, we have two daughters and they grew up here in Georgetown, and that was a really special place for our kids growing up, our kids are avid readers and it’s just the heart of our community; and this really melded well with our vision statement. It encompasses everything that’s important to Sweet Lemon too. Just connecting to the community and creating a space that is nourishing in all those ways.”
