If youβve driven down Lakeway toward I-35 recently, you may have noticed a giant concrete building under construction.
While many have wondered if the building is the first signs of Costcoβ¦itβs not. Instead, itβs the newest expansion of Texas Outdoor Power Equipment!
βWe are a wholesale distribution center for outdoor power equipment,β Mike Elliott, Co-Owner of TOP Equipment, told Hello Georgetown. βWe supply about 500 independent lawn equipment dealers, our territory goes from Mississippi to Southern California.β
The family owned company started in Georgetown in 1986 in a 3,500 square foot facility, and has been growing since then. In 1990, the company built a second 10,000 square foot building and later added another 12,000 square feet in 1998. Then in 2000, they built a 70,000 square foot building and later added another 70,000 square feet in 2009. Now, they are in need of moving operations to a new facility.
βItβs our new distribution center,β Elliott said. βThe current building weβre in, which is right next door, itβs 140,000 square feet. The business has grown, and this building has become too small. So, weβre going from a metal building to a concrete, tilt wall building. The new building will be 230,000 square feet.β
Elliott said the company is excited about the new expansion which is projected to be complete by late March or early April of 2022.
βWe employ a lot of local people, we have 60 employees, 45 internal employees and 15 salesmen on the road in multiple states,β Elliott said. βSo, weβre excited about the expansion and our employees are excited to be a much nicer, more efficient, much more up to date facility than what weβre in now, and itβs going to be fun.β
TOP Equipment is owned by brothers Mike, Tim and Bob Elliot. The company works strictly with retailers and carries two major product lines: Scag Zero-Turn Mowers and Echo Outdoor Power Equipment.
They do not sell equipment to the public. If youβd like to purchase equipment provided by TOP Equipment, visit these retailers in Georgetown: Ewald Kubota or Georgetown Outdoor Power.
