The Rotary Club of Georgetown Foundation is pleased to announce that the 5th Annual Field of Honorยฎ will include the โCost of Freedomโ American Veteran Traveling Tribute (AVTT). The emotional display includes the 80% replica of the Vietnam Wall and 72 additional panels that pay tribute to Veterans of all other wars and conflicts. AVTT is a nationally recognized, Veteran owned and operated small business. The tribute has been part of more than 300 events across the United States over the last 15 years.
The wall display has been generously funded by the Hood Endowment โ Round Rock Community Foundation, Suddenlink by Altice, and several Rotarians including George Lourigan of Federal Savings Bank, Judge Billy Ray Stubblefield, Joseph and Michele Cuteri, and Tom Howard.
Nathan Winstead, Rotary Club President said, โWe are honored to be able to offer this special new addition of the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall. We greatly appreciate all our donors for allowing us to make the new addition and welcome all visitors to the field. We will never forget the sacrifices our veterans have made to preserve the freedom we have in the United States of America.โ
SportClips is the Field of Honorโs presenting sponsor this year. The weekโs events will commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the First Cavalry at Fort Hood. The Marine Corps League Detachment 1022 will also hold their Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony at the field.
The 5th Annual Field of Honor will be held November 6 through 14 at the activity field in San Gabriel Park. All are welcome! Purchase and dedicate flags โ $40 each โ to your heroes online or at the Field. Repost flags from prior years for $20. To repost, the flags must be in perfect condition. There is no charge to visit the Field of Honorยฎ
Ticketed events can be purchased online beginning September 15. These include the Nathan Chapman Honor Walk, presented by Sertoma on November 6, a patriotic concert provided by the Central Texas Philharmonic at the Klett Performing Arts Theater on November 7, and an evening BBQ event to be held on November 13 in the tent with music, dancing, a bucket raffle, and more.
Watch or help set-up of the field and the Vietnam Wall on November 5. The fabulous Opening Celebrations will be held on November 7 including static displays from Fort Hood, police, fire, sheriff, EMS and K9 Units, a fly over by the Devil Dog, a Veteran Resource Expo and Job Fair, and more. There will be an inspiring Veterans Day ceremony on November 11, and Quilt of Valor ceremonies, a photography contest, and many amazing displays in the tent throughout the week. Flag pick-up is on Sunday, November 14.
Proceeds from flag sales benefit selected organizations that support veteran and first responders and their families.
