On Saturday, November 5th, the Rotary Club of Georgetown, Texas will kick off the 6th annual Georgetown, Texas Field of Honor at San Gabriel Park.
“The Field of Honor® is a dramatic, emotion-filled display of up to 1,600+ full-size, 3′ x 5′ US flags, that honors military (past and present) and first responders,” according to the organization’s website. “The Rotary Club of Georgetown’s signature event held at San Gabriel Park will take your breath away. Each flag is available for purchase and dedication in honor of veterans, active or reserve duty military, first responders, K9 Units, and Equestrian heroes!”
This year’s Field of Honor will take place from November 5 – 12 and is free to attend for all. In addition to the flag display, the public is invited to attend a variety of events happening throughout the week including:
- Sertoma Club of Georgetown Nathan Chapman Honor Walk
- Opening Ceremonies
- Marine Corps League Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony
- Tunnel to Towers – 911 “Never Forget” Mobile Exhibit
- Veterans Day Ceremony

The Tunnel to Towers mobile exhibit is a new addition to the field this year, and will also allow the public the opportunity to talk to and be guided through the 1,1000 square foot exhibit by four FDNY firefighters who were eyewitness to the tragic events of September 11, 2011.
“We are grateful to the W.D. Kelley Foundation, OPTIMUM, and the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation – Hood Endowment that provided the funds to make this exhibit possible for the entire week of the Field of Honor®,” according to the Georgetown, Texas Field of Honor website. “The arrival of the trailer carrying the exhibit will be escorted by the Georgetown Police and Fire Departments, the Williamson County Sheriff, and the Patriot Guard Riders.”
Community members can purchase and dedicate flags throughout the week to add to the field, and proceeds from the flag sales will go to benefit the following nonprofits:
- O.P. Veteran
- R.O.C.K. (Ride On Center for Kids)
- Wilco Blue Star Mothers
“The net proceeds from the Field of Honor® flag sales directly benefit veteran and first responder non-profit organizations,” the organization wrote. ” From the inception of the Field of Honor® in 2017, $179,500 has been awarded to beneficiaries and Affiliate organizations from flag sales. Beneficiaries are selected through a grant application process.”
