On Saturday, October 1, the community is invited to attend Fiesta Georgetown.
“Fiesta Georgetownβs purpose is to celebrate the culture and heritage of the Hispanic/ Latinx community,” the organizers said. “We invite everyone to come and share in this festive celebration of music, food, art, and dance. Admission and parking are free. Parking will be available in the parking lot in front of the library on 8th Street.”
The event is made possible by the Hispanic Business Owner Chamber Circle, GTX Connect, the City of Georgetown Arts and Culture Department and the Georgetown Health Foundation.
“The celebration will feature non-stop entertainment with live band El Combo Oscuro, performances by the Round Rock Ballet Folkloric, and Mariachis,” the organizers said. “This year’s activities will include an arts and crafts Kids Corner located at the Georgetown Library, as well as a Georgetown Independent School District PiΓ±ata contest. There will be a variety of foods and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase, the proceeds of which will go to benefit the City of Georgetownβs Promise Fund Scholarship. The Promise Fund Scholarship was created to benefit the minority community.”
Additionally, community outreach organizations with bilingual speakers will be in attendance including:
- Georgetown Police Department
- Georgetown Fire Department
- GTX Immigration Services
- Texas Legal Services
- Georgetown Health Foundation
- Williamson County and Cities Health District
- Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown
- Georgetown Chamber of Commerce
Fiesta Georgetown will be held at the Georgetown City Center which incorporates the Georgetown Public Library, the Light and Waterworks Building, City Hall, the Shotgun House and the Council and Court building.
