On Friday, April 15, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital hosted a very special event in the ICU: the wedding of Paul and Stephanie Pedraza.
The high school sweethearts have been together for 20 years and were finally planning their wedding when Stephanie’s mother Rose fell ill and was placed in the ICU, the hospital told Hello Georgetown.
As Stephanie’s only living parent, the couple wanted to make sure Rose attended the wedding and brought the occasion to her bedside.

“We were overjoyed to assist the family in this time of celebration,” Darrell Hudson, manager of spiritual care and volunteer services for St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, told Hello Georgetown. “This is another demonstration of ICARE (integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, excellence), the core values of St. David’s HealthCare.”
Hudson added that in his eight years with St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, this is his first wedding in the ICU, and his second wedding at the hospital.

“It is not unusual for hospital staff members to go out of their way to do something special for their patients, but in this case it was a true team effort for so many to pitch in and be a part of this family’s special day,” Hugh Brown, CEO of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, told Hello Georgetown. “They once again proved that delivering exceptional care often involves more than simply being great clinicians.”
Congrats to the happy couple!
