Faith in Action Georgetown is celebrating 21 years of providing transportation to older adults in support of aging in place. At 7 p.m., September 29, the organization is poised to welcome in-person attendees to its highly popular choral concert.
βWe are looking forward to expanding more into the community,β said Lisa Hill, Executive Director. βAnd in addition to church groups, this yearβs concert includes a group from the Georgetown Police Department.β
The organization expects ten acts to participate in the concert, which will be held at First Baptist Church of Georgetown, 1333 W. University Avenue, Georgetown, TX. In years past, the event has attracted around 700 attendees. This year, the organization looks forward to reconnecting with annual attendees and welcoming new ones to be a part of this tradition.
βWe are all finally settling in to our new normal, and we are hopeful that this event will provide a connection to past concerts along with an eye to the future encouraging people to come out in support of Faith in Actionβs mission of providing free transportation for Georgetownβs older adults,β Hill said.
Also present during the concert will be the organizationβs traveling portrait exhibit featuring six of Faith in Action Georgetownβs clients who were honored at their Portraits of Independence event earlier this year.
The choral concert has been an annual event since Faith in Action launched in 2001. Music from a variety of churches and musical groups will make up the program, as well as live interviews and client testimonies. This is a family friendly event free to the public.
The concert acts as one of Faith in Action Georgetownβs major fundraisers. Although it is a free event, donations are welcome and encouraged during a collection time. For more information, contact Faith in Action Georgetown at 512-868-9544 or visit their website at www.FaithInActionGT.org.
