On January 5, the Georgetown Recreation Center will start their free “Couch to 5K” training program.
“Join us for this 6-week training program for beginners to running,” according to the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department. “This Couch to 5K program is designed to gradually build up your running ability. Over the 6 week program, we’ll slowly ramp up the amount of time spent running, and cut back on walking, ultimately finishing 3.1 miles at a pace that is comfortable to you!”
The classes will take place weekly on Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM starting January 5 and will continue through February 9. The program is free, the department said, but registration is required.
