Frozen Flamingo has celebrated their first anniversary in Georgetown, TX!
The business had previously operated as Shake’s Frozen Custard which opened in Georgetown in 2001. But, in 2019, Georgetown native Faith Thomas purchased the business and created her own spin on frozen treats.
“I bought this business as a Shake’s Frozen Custard in January of 2019, and I decided to rebrand get out of the franchise, create my own concept,” Faith Thomas, Owner/Manager of Frozen Flamingo, told Hello Georgetown. “It started in April of 2021, and then I officially changed the signs August 6th, 2021. So, here we are August of 2022.”
As a new business, Thomas expanded the menu from exclusively frozen custard to also include shaved ice, frozen cocktails, daiquiris and margaritas, and more!
“I really want the Frozen Flamingo experience to be there’s so many options, you have to get something different every time,” Thomas said. “I have my regulars who don’t, but I want, every time someone comes here, [for them] to see a new specialty item, a new drink that looks amazing, a new ice cream or frozen custard product that looks amazing. So, I guess I would just want people to know that we have unlimited options for the most part, anything they’re craving anything they want, we can probably create it. We make everything to order. So, take advantage of that. Create some crazy stuff!”
In her first year of operating as the Frozen Flamingo, Thomas says she has been working to get the word out to new customers.
“I’m just really so grateful to be in the Georgetown community,” Thomas said. “Everyone’s been so supportive and I’m excited for the future. I have a lot of plans, even more upgrades to come.”
Part of those plans will include taking Frozen Flamingo out to events. Thomas said she will soon start renting out machines so people can have their favorite local treats brought right to them.
“I’d say that’s my most exciting project coming up, and just really expanding the opportunity to get daiquiris, slushies, non-alcoholic versions, to events,” Thomas said “I think that will be really fun.”
Looking ahead, Thomas says she is grateful for the support she’s received from the community and can’t wait to continue serving sweet treats to the Georgetown for years to come.
“I just feel really grateful to be in the Georgetown community,” Thomas said. “It’s really unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.”
