After the doorbells stop ringing and the clarion call of “trick-or-treat!” fades for another year, a local pediatric dentistry practice is inviting the community to bring their extra candy by their office during their annual candy buy back.
“It’s that time of year,” Georgetown Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics wrote on Facebook. “Mark your calendar to bring in your sweet treats in exchange for CASH!”
Participating is simple, since 2011, Georgetown Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics has offered to buy back candy for $1.00 a pound up to 5 pounds of candy per family. The candy they buy back then gets packaged up and sent to Soldiers’ Angels “Treats for Troops.”
“Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops collects excess Halloween candy and ships it to deployed service members around the world in care packages,” according to Soldier’s Angels website. “We also share the candy with veterans at various events across the country as well as Guard and Reserve units.”
In 2021, the dental practice sent the organization 200 pounds of candy and will begin collecting for this year starting on November 1st through November 4th.
“We enjoy supporting our troops and hope this small gesture brings them a smile,” the company told Hello Georgetown. “We want them to know the kids of our community are thinking of them.”
