In a heartwarming blend of tradition and technology, a new podcast, “24 Days of Christ,” invites listeners to embark on a daily spiritual journey throughout the month of December.
Created by Georgetown woman Sydney Decker, the podcast was inspired by a serendipitous discovery during her service as a missionary. The concept revolves around the Book of Luke’s 24 chapters. By beginning the journey on December 1 and listening to one chapter per day, listeners can experience the entirety of the Savior’s ministry by Christmas Eve.
“I made an accidental discovery that has since turned into one of my annual Christmas traditions,” Decker said. “For years, I told myself I would produce an audio version with music to share with anyone who wanted to join me in this tradition.”
The free podcast series incorporates music to enhance the storytelling, creating a unique and immersive experience for listeners.
“Reading Luke 2 in December has always held special meaning for me, but that first month of reading the entire Book of Luke was transformative in how I viewed the whole Christmas story,” Decker said. “When I first began brainstorming what this could look like I really wanted this to be something that emulated the early days of radio, where individuals and families could gather together and enjoy the beautiful and miraculous story of the life of Jesus Christ.”
Decker began creating the podcast in 2022 and produced the first 14 episodes, but was unable to finish due to the sickness that accompanies pregnancy. Now, in 2023, she said she is finishing the series. Currently, episodes 1 – 14 are available and listeners can begin with episode 1 on December 1st, episode 2 on December 2nd, and so on. New episodes will begin releasing on their corresponding days starting December 15th with Luke 15.
Listeners can access the podcast on various platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, Whether through Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, Castbox, Pocketcasts, RSS feed, or the dedicated website https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/24daysofchrist. Decker hopes to spread the joy of this tradition far and wide.
“I hope you enjoy this tradition as much as I’ve come to enjoy it,” Decker said. “Life can sometimes feel so chaotic or overwhelming, and during the busyness of the Christmas season especially, my prayer is we all can find peace and joy in the Savior.”
