The Hill Country Authors Series returns Oct. 20 and will feature Lynda Rutledge, author of the bestselling novel West with Giraffes.
The Hill Country Authors series is a long-running program by the Friends of the Georgetown Library. The program brings published area authors to the library for presentations and questions from attendees.
The event takes place Thursday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Friends Room upstairs at the library, located at 402 West 8th Street, Georgetown. Doors open at 1:30.
West With Giraffes is a historical novel inspired by a true story about a pair of hurricane-surviving giraffes who were trucked cross-country during the Great Depression. Its author, Lynda Rutledge, holds an MFA in creative writing, an MA in American literature, and she has won awards and residencies from the Writers League of Texas, among many others. She lives with her husband and dog in Wimberley, TX.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are available from Sept. 6 – Oct. 18 online at the Friends of the Library website www.folgeorgetown.org. Tickets may also be purchased at Second-Hand Prose, the used bookstore upstairs at the library.
Refreshments are included in the cost and will be served by Sweet Lemon Kitchen. Lark and Owl will be on hand to sell copies of West With Giraffes, which the author will be happy to sign.
