June 6, 2022 – Jimmy Vega’s Smokehouse has officially opened in their new location!
Now located at 408 W University in Georgetown, the business wrote on Facebook they have more parking, new menu favorites and are close to Downtown.
“It’s been fantastic,” James Ramsey, Owner of Jimmy Vega’s Smokehouse, told Hello Georgetown. “Just a lot of great reaction not only from people that have known us for a long time, but even a newer crowd that we’ve had, just because of the location itself…just a great response overall.”

The business originally started as a food truck before transitioning into more of a sit-down experience at their prior location. Now, in this new location, Ramsey said, they’ve worked hard to create an environment that helps guests feel like they’re grabbing a bite to eat at home.
“We love what we create and we put a lot of thought into just about everything we do,” Ramsey said. “The ambiance and everything, we really tried to make it feel like, for lack of a better term, like you’re visiting your mom and dad’s house…comfort is what we were going for, and so we we really put a lot of time and thought into making sure that everything we do makes people feel like home.”
The menu looks largely the same, Ramsey said, but does include a couple of new features – all made from scratch.

“Certainly one thing that we take a lot of pride in is quite literally everything that we produce here is completely from scratch,” Ramsey said. “We make all of our dressings, we make all of our we make bacon from scratch. Again, we put a lot of love into what we do and we certainly take a lot of pride in that. Down to the the minute details, we do everything right here in the kitchen.”
Jimmy Vega’s is open for lunch from 11 AM to 3 PM Tuesday through Saturday, and dinner until 8 PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Ramsey said they look forward to expanding those hours in the future.

February 4, 2022 – We’ve got an update about the new location for Jimmy Vega’s Smokehouse!
The new location is set to open in the beginning of March. According to the business’s Facebook page, they will be temporarily not accepting customer orders while they make this transition.
“After five years in our current location it is about time for us to move on to bigger and better things,” Jimmy Vega’s Smokehouse wrote on Facebook. “We will…take a short hiatus in order for us to move to our new location on University ave…Thanks to all our fans and we look forward to seeing y’all there.”

November 11, 2021 – Currently located at 40120 Industrial Park Circle in Georgetown, the new location will be on University Avenue near downtown Georgetown.
“Our new location will increase our capacity as well as being able to expand our menu with a few items like hamburgers and salads in a turn of the century home right off of downtown,” James Ramsey, owner and operator of Jimmy Vega’s Smokehouse, told Hello Georgetown. My family has been in Georgetown since the eighties and have a special connection with the town. We are hoping to open by the end of the year but that may extend to the beginning of next year.”
Jimmy Vega’s Smokehouse is known for their smokehouse style cuisine, and offers menu items including:

- Sausage
- Baby-Back Ribs
- Smoke Roasted Bacon
- Sandwiches
- and More!
The business operates as a restaurant, food truck, and catering business.
“Jimmy Vega’s is a BBQ smokehouse specializing in Texas Style brisket and Dry Rub Baby Back ribs. We also have delicious sides, malts, and desserts,” Ramsey said. “I have over 26 years of culinary experience which allows me to create everything in-house so that we can cater to a variety of tastes. We post our specials on our Facebook page. We also offer catering both with and without our food truck.”
