On Thursday, May 19, Seeds of Strength awarded $185,000 to local nonprofits as part of their annual grant cycle.
βThrough the generosity of our 244 members, we are proud to award $185,000 in grants in 2022 with a planned assistance to over 1,000 children, students, adults, and families in Georgetown.,β Pam Carlson, Grants Committee Chair for Seeds of Strength, said at the ceremony. βThis brings the total amount of awards given since 2010 to $1,890,988. A special thank you to each one of our members for making this possible.β
The nonprofits awarded grants this year include:
- Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown β $25,000
- Brookwood in Georgetown Texas β (BiG) β $25,000
- Capital IDEA β $25,000
- CASA of Williamson County β $19,000
- Epilepsy Foundation of Central & South Texas β $10,000
- Faith in Action β $24,000
- Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County β $20,000
- The Georgetown Project β $25,000
- Wonders and Worries β $11,500
Seeds of Strength originally began in 2009 when a group of women came together inspired by a quote by Debby Boone who said, βDreams are the seeds of change. Nothing grows without a seed, and nothing ever changes without a dream.β
Today, Seeds of Strength has become a core part of the community, awarding over 100 grants to nonprofits in the greater Georgetown area and whose services fall under Health and Well Being, Family, Education/Financial Security, and Arts and Culture, according to the organizationβs website.
