The Key2Free is holding its 5th Flannel RUN4Freedom 5K and Kids 1K Saturday, October 22.
Amy Davis, Co-Founder and CEO of The Key2Free, said they are excited to step back into this event and look forward to the awareness it will bring to the community to raise support for survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation.
βOur first 5K was a very cold January morning in 2014,β Davis said. βWe held four additional 5Ks over the next four years. We took a break for a few years and are returning this year after hearing from multiple supporters who miss this event. Itβs a great way to involve families and do something fun while also supporting an important cause in the community.β
This year, the 5K will include a raffle opportunity with two raffle packages each valued at over $350. Raffle tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. The drawing will take place at the end of the race and you must be present to win.
In addition to the RUN4Freedom, the 5th Annual 100 Days of Giving Freedom Campaign is in full swing and plans are underway for the 10th Annual Masquerade Ball in April 2023.
βWeβre off to a great start,β Davis said. βOur goal this year is to raise $250,000 in order to expand our programming to open our safe house as a 24/7 restorative house for survivors of trafficking. Our budget will nearly double in the coming year, making this an important campaign for us.β
The Freedom Campaign has currently raised over $20,000 and ends at midnight on New Years Eve.
βWe have added some giving incentives this year,β Davis said. βIn October, any donor that commits to a monthly donation of $50 per month or more will be entered into a drawing. The winner will be announced on Facebook and will win 4 tickets to our 10th annual Masquerade Ball in April of 2023!β
Registration is still open for this Saturdayβs 5K. βWe would love for racers to grab something flannel and bring it with them,β Davis said. βJoin us for a fun, Fall, festive morning!β
The event will be held from 8:30 AM to noon at San Gabriel Park, Legacy Pavilion, 445 E Morrow St, Georgetown, TX. Check in opens at 8:30 a.m. with the race starting at 9:30 a.m., and includes race merchandise, a festive photo booth, raffle opportunities, and concessions.
The Key2Free exists to prevent and end sex trafficking through education, awareness in local communities, and aftercare solutions for survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation. They accomplish this by creating a safe, quality environment, providing access to supportive community-based services, and educating the public and at-risk youth about trafficking.
