H-E-B officially broke ground on their brand new store in Georgetown, TX in May 2022.
The grocery store has been a integral part of the Georgetown community for over 50 years with the first store arriving in the city in the mid-1960’s. Laura Estes, Director of Marketing and Merchandising of Central Texas H-E-B, spoke about the decades long relationship between H-E-B and the community.
“It’s been a long serving love affair, 56 years,” Laura Estes, Director of Marketing and Merchandising of Central Texas H-E-B, said. “When you go and look back, 1966 on the downtown side of the San Gabriel, we put our first store…in 2001, Georgetown was continuing to grow so we opened up Georgetown #2 at Williams drive…so lots and lots of history here…thank you guys for 56 years of love to H-E-B, and we just wanted to let you know that H-E-B loves you right back and hope you guys are going to love this new store.”
In February 2022, parts of the downtown Georgetown square became a movie set for HBO’s limited TV series true-crime drama “Love & Death”.
“An affair between two Texans in 1980s suburbia turns deadly in Love & Death, the upcoming HBO Max miniseries based on the real-life murder of Betty Gore,” according to Entertainment Weekly. “Love & Death debuts on HBO Max in spring 2023.”
The name and artist line up for the newest music festival coming to Georgetown, Texas in 2023 has been announced!
“Giddy up for the 2023 Two Step Inn Lineup,” the music festival wrote on Facebook. “Embrace the honky tonk spirit and dance your boots off with Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, Wynonna, and many more dazzlin’ acts in the heart of Georgetown, Texas.”
The festival will take place Saturday and Sunday, April 15th and 16th, at San Gabriel Park.
Georgetown’s own City Lights movie theatre is getting some renovations and upgrades as it prepares to become a Film Alley by Schulman Theatres.
The company told Hello Georgetown in July that renovations had already begun in the auditoriums that will become kitchen, restaurant, bowling and arcade spaces.
Film Alley Georgetown is projected to be complete by March 2023. The company said they plan to stay open through most of the renovations.
It comes as no surprise to us at Hello Georgetown that updates about Costco coming to Georgetown, TX comes in as our top read story this year, we hear often from our readers how excited they are about it coming! 😀
Site work for the eagerly anticipated store began in October 2022. As of December 31st, Costco hasn’t announced an official opening date for the Georgetown store on their website, but we will keep watching for an official announcement from them and update this page with details when we confirm the date, or any other information.
