Georgetown, TX (November 30, 2023) – Local Georgetown business Wag Heaven Pet Supplies & Self-Serve Dog Wash is raising funds to help the family of Jeremy Emmanuel Tang Diaz pay for medical and funeral expenses after Jeremy passed away on November 14th. Wag Heaven is holding a benefit drawing for several pet supplies gift baskets valued from $50 and up, with tickets for a chance to win a basket offered for a suggested donation of $5.00 each.
Tickets are available at both Wag Heaven locations through December 31st, 2023. Tickets will also be available at the Christmas Stroll in Downtown Georgetown on December 1st and 2nd at Wag Heaven’s booth. A pet toy drive and t-shirt sales will also be offered for fundraising.
The Diaz’s are Georgetown residents. On Monday, September 11 of this year, 6-year-old Jeremy was thrust into a nightmare that no child should ever have to endure when he was attacked in his home by a neighbor with a baseball bat. He sustained skull fractures and brain swelling that left him fighting for his life.
“He fought for over 60 days and was improving, but at the end, the odds seemed against him and he gave up the ghost,” wrote Arturo Diaz, Jeremy’s father. “I was there when he took his first breath and saw him take his last…No parent should see their children buried before them.”
“We spoke with Jeremy’s mother, Yilin Tang, and asked if we could hold a fundraiser in honor of Jeremy,” says Jeff Manley of Wag Heaven. “We understand that his passing has left the family with unimaginable grief and numerous medical bills.” Wag Heaven has gathered and created a variety of pet supplies gift baskets with help from product manufacturers who were grateful to their offer of support.
This tragedy has affected many leaders in the community that call Georgetown home. “It is so important to open our hearts and help,” offers Michael Price of the Georgetown Beard Club. “Our residents make Georgetown, Texas the greatest place to live. We take care of each other.”
