GEORGETOWN, TEXAS β At a city council meeting last week, Georgetown City Council issued a proclamation declaring October 8 as Walk and Roll to School Day. Elementary students in Georgetown will join those from all over the U.S. walking, biking, or rolling to school. The annual event aims to increase student physical activity, reduce traffic congestion, and help the environment.
βWe are excited to partner with our local public safety officials for Walk and Roll to School Day, an event that not only promotes health and wellness for our students but also highlights the importance of safety in our community,β Superintendent Dr. Devin Padavil said. βItβs an opportunity to work closely with our local public safety officials and educate the community on safety awareness in school zones.β
The event is being organized by Georgetown ISD in partnership with the City of Georgetown. School staff and members of the Georgetown Police and Fire departments will be in school zones to greet families and promote safety.
