This week, we recognize Santa Phil Gingras, for his year-round commitment to bringing joy and the Spirit of Christmas to the community, serving in countless seen and unseen ways, and uplifting children (and children at heart) in Georgetown.
“Phil, better known as Santa Phil to those around him; is Georgetownβs own personal Santa Claus,” the person who nominated him said. “Not just because he looks the part, but because he personifies him in all ways. He is kind and patient, especially with children, who he truly loves at all ages. It doesnβt matter what he is doing, if a child approaches and asks the question, βare you Santa?β He always answers with a resounding βyes!β More importantly, Santa Phil will take the time to chat with the child and/or children and they always walk away BELIEVING that they have met Santa Claus. His kindness and generosity for our community helped start the Georgetown Beard Club, of which he is a valued leader. He is at the forefront of all of their community events as well as assisting in raising desperately needed funding for other organizations such as Helping Hands Of Georgetown, The Playful Child and the Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown, just to name a few. But, his time to shine is from November to Dec 25th when he can be found bringing joy to the faces of children and adults alike. His sense of humor, love and genuine compassion are infectious to those around him. He embodies all the things that Georgetown cherishes. He is a friend to all and an example we should all follow.”
Thank you Santa Phil for all you are and all you do in our community to bring light, happiness and hope! Check out the video above to watch us surprise Santa Phil with a Hometown Hero award!
