The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter took in 41 dogs from a single location in Liberty Hill and is in urgent need of help from the community.
The 41 new dogs stretch the already limited resources to the brink. The shelter is asking for immediate help from the community. The biggest need is kennel space.
Adopting a medium or large adult dog will make room for another dog to take his space in a kennel. Fostering over spring break will serve the same purpose.
People who are able to help through adoption or fostering can preview the available dogs at wilcopets.org. Then, adopters are encouraged to schedule an appointment by emailing adoption@wilco.org. First-time fosters can make their visit to the shelter quicker by filling out the Foster Application found here, https://forms.wilco.org/Forms/as_foster_app, then coming to the shelter to pick out a dog. Staff will assist in selecting dogs that will suit the family’s needs.
Other ways to help include donating to the shelter’s medical fund, known as Jane’s Fund, by going to wilcopets.org, clicking on the yellow donate button, and selecting the medical fund where it asks for a fund to be chosen.
The shelter is also asking for item donations, specifically, paper lunch bags, blankets/towels and Science Diet dog kibble. Item donations may be dropped off at the shelter’s services center located at 1855 SE Inner Loop (see map below).
