The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is imploring the community to foster and adopt as the shelter remains at critical capacity.
“We are experiencing extremely critical space & capacity of care issues and have been since late June,” the shelter wrote on Facebook. “Traditionally, shelters in our situation have produced a list of dogs slated for euthanasia with a deadline by which to save them. We’ve always engaged in life-saving because we believe itβs the right things to do, so instead of producing a euthanasia list, we are taking the unprecedented step of producing a βPreventing Euthanasiaβ List with the dogs that we believe could fit into many different homes and environments β whether adoptive or foster homes, or another organizationβs program or rescue. If the community can step up to help us save these dogs, it allows our staff and volunteers the opportunity to give time to the dogs with higher needs, so that ultimately, all lives can be saved.”
The list, the shelter added, aims to help reduce the number of dogs in the shelter through adoptions, fosters or rescues of the 10 dogs on the list. Adoptions for any of the dogs on the list below are $2 through Sunday, August 21.
“We have only been able to maintain our no-kill status through the communityβs support – your support – but this is an unprecedented crisis, and so we are calling on the community to step up with unprecedented support,” the shelter wrote.
