The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter has launched a new “Doggy Day Out” program!
“The Doggy Day Out program is a FUN new way to help,” the shelter wrote on Facebook. “It’s easy and it’s so beneficial to the dogs AND the staff. What is this intriguing new program, you ask? You come choose a dog to take on an outing for the day. We will sign you up as a foster for that dog and for that day only. Take the dog on the outing. Go to a park. Get a pup cup. Take a nap on the couch. Whatever suits you! Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!”
During the day out, the shelter will provide a leash with an “Adopt Me” sleeve on it, a business card for the dog to share with anyone who might want to foster or adopt the dog, and an “Adopt Me” vest for the dog to wear throughout the day.
“Be sure to take plenty of photos and/or videos to share with your friends and family, plus email them to our Community Programs Coordinator for use to help market that dog,” the shelter wrote. “Use #doggydayout when posting to your social media!”
In order to participate, the shelter told Hello Georgetown, the individual must be 18 or older or with someone who is 18 or older. Additionally, no other pets are allowed.
The program is open seven days a week from noon to closing. Dogs need to be returned to the shelter by 5:30 PM the same day.
