Teen Advisory Committee (TAC) is a group of teens that meets on 2nd and 4th Thursdays (unless otherwise noted) during the school year (September through May) to assist Teen Services Librarian Ms. Margaret with planning and promoting teen activities, maintaining the Teen Space, , and making the library a better place for teens. TAC is a great way to get involved with your library, make friends, and have a ton of fun while building your leadership and teamwork skills. TAC takes a hiatus every June through August. Fun is always had by all! The Teen Chefs really enjoy exploring recipe creations and flavor combinations. Classes continue monthly with themes in time with the season. Our Teen Class (13-18 years old) will focus on more complicated recipes and cooking techniques, plating and knife skills. All classes prepare gluten-free dishes.

Classes are certified gluten-free and health-focused.   Fun is always had by all! The Jr Chefs really enjoy leaving with something they made with their own 2 hands and often find new favorite foods they have never tried before. Classes continue monthly with themes and activities in time with the season and are for the age range of 6-14 for all classes. As we draw closer to the crucifixion, we gather for an evening service on which we reflect on Jesus’ Last Supper, receive communion and enter a space of somber, quiet reflection as the passion narrative is read. During this final portion of the service, there will be a gradual extinguishing of light in the room, after which participants will be invited to depart in silence.

After several months off, the Georgetown Tri Club (formerly Georgetown Triathletes) are excited to announce the return of our monthly Park Run!! The Red Poppy Festival has hosted a who’s who of artists and bands throughout the last few decades and this year promises to be better than ever. With live performances, all three stages will be heating up and turning out the good time vibes. All concerts are free! No tickets needed.

Join us for a morning of fishing fun at the Garey Park ponds. We will provide fishing equipment, instruction, and bait. Children under the age of 12 must have an enrolled parent to participate in the program. Ages 17+ must have a valid fishing license. Fee includes entry into Garey Park.   Ages 5+ $15 Resident/$20 Nonresident 8-10 a.m.

This bike ride supports the williamson county child advocacy center, the sertoma program for scholarships and the bike programs with the local police and fire departments. All ages are welcome. Routes of 12, 29, 40, 62 and 100 miles are available. Rest stops with food and drink and a snack at the end of the ride.   Helmets and an observance to all bicycle road rules are required. Hey WilCo, it’s time to get out into the garden! Get into Georgetown on Saturday, April 26th at 9:00 a.m. and join us for this month’s Hands On in the Garden, where Master Gardeners Jim Williams and Dale Hill are going to teach you how to go with the flow – of soak cycle watering! Then you’ll have three breakout sessions! Master Gardener Tommy King is going to dig down with “Composting”, Master Gardener Jim Williams will clear the air with “All About Fertilizer” and Master Gardener Olena Duka is going to show you how to spread the joy with “Gardening with Kids.” The breakout sessions will cycle so you’ll be able to attend all of them or just one or two – it’s up to you! The Master Gardeners will also be available to answer questions after their presentations!  Hands On in the Garden is a free outdoor educational program, be sure to dress for the weather and bring a lawn chair and water for your comfort! Join us as we kayak down the scenic Willis Creek. Willis Creek is a secluded creek that is connected to Lake Granger. Actual paddling time is about 2 hours. Kayaks, paddles, personal flotation devices, transportation, and instruction are included. Participants should come dressed in their kayaking attire. Please bring drinking water, a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Participants will need to complete the Liability Waiver on their account. Details will be sent in an email about a week prior to the activity. We will meet at the Parks Administration Building (1101 N College St.) and take a 15 passenger van to Willis Creek Park. Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Recreation programs must meet minimum participant requirements prior to start date of the course, typically 7 days. Courses not meeting minimum requirements will be canceled. Full refunds will be issued for departmental cancellations. Full refunds/transfers will only be given if notice is received 10 or more days prior to the start of the program. Hear “Heroes of a Hidden Child: One Survivor’s Story of Gratitude" from Lucy Taus Katz.   Born into a Jewish family in Nazi-occupied Europe, Lucy Taus was just an infant when her family faced the horrors of the Holocaust. While much of her large extended family perished, Lucy’s life was spared through the extraordinary acts of kindness and bravery of strangers. Hear her story from Lucy herself This event is presented by Congregation Havurah Shalom, in partnership with the Georgetown Public Library. It is free and open to all ages. 

The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service is a candlelight, contemplative prayer service that meets onsite monthly at any of its Williamson County partner churches. This season, we meet at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, Georgetown Texas with meditations centered around the topic “Courage.” All services are open to the public.   We will pray together by combining two very special types of worship services: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are a diverse community of area Christians, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles. A time is set aside for anointing by ministers. Communion is offered to all in attendance, with pre-packaged and gluten-free elements available.   About the meditations: Our subject for the coming season is “Courage.” Brief homilies will be prepared by area ministers, and guided by a senior pastor. In this workshop, you will learn the different categories of special needs that may be common in children’s development, and how these needs are identified, screened for, and accommodated within our early childhood programs and classrooms. We will discuss reliable community resources which are available to help support children that may be identified with special needs. Finally, you will receive helpful tools and tips for partnering with parents of children with developmental delays or disabilities, discuss community resources to support children with disabilities (such as ECI), and learn a process of having hard conferences when making a referral. Important Update: Training Session Entry Guidelines We are implementing new entry procedures for our Zoom training sessions to ensure a smooth learning experience for everyone: Sessions will begin promptly at their scheduled start time There will be a 10-minute window at the beginning of each session to admit participants Access to the session will not be granted after this 10-minute window has closed. Students read short texts using simple context clues and decoding skills and write short paragraphs edited for basic grammar and spelling. Materials/Textbook: TBD NOTE: Class information will be emailed a few days before the class date. Registering for one class registers you for the full semester. My earlier work explored the cultural dissonance I faced when I moved from America to South Korea as a child. These experiences, marked by feelings of not belonging and constant adaptation, were expressed through deeply personal and darker narratives. In 2024, my first solo exhibition in my motherland, South Korea, became a turning point. Audiences resonated with my work, sharing their own stories of isolation and offering perspectives that reshaped my understanding of those memories. This exhibition symbolizes the growth and a shift in focus—from being stuck in a single moment of the past to recognizing that every memory, whether painful or nostalgic, can transform over time. Fun is always had by all! The Teen Chefs really enjoy exploring recipe creations and flavor combinations. Classes continue monthly with themes in time with the season. Our Teen Class (13-18 years old) will focus on more complicated recipes and cooking techniques, plating and knife skills. All classes prepare gluten-free dishes.

Classes are certified gluten-free and health-focused.   Fun is always had by all! The Jr Chefs really enjoy leaving with something they made with their own 2 hands and often find new favorite foods they have never tried before. Classes continue monthly with themes and activities in time with the season and are for the age range of 6-14 for all classes. Our new Teen class 13-18 years old will focus on more complicated recipes and cooking techniques, plating and knife skills.

Our Teen Class (13-18 years old) will focus on more complicated recipes and cooking techniques, plating and knife skills. All classes prepare gluten-free dishes.
